Performance with lots of files

Jun 8, 2010 at 11:35 PM

Hi all, I have a dbproj and am using T4Toolbox to create around 500 table/constraints/key/trigger files in one script. It takes around 15 minutes and the majority of it seems to be TFS operations (even when the files are checked out). Can the code be optimised here or does anyone have any suggestions?

Is this your own script or the LINQ to SQL generator from T4Toolbox?

They are my own templates that I have based off of T4Toolbox.Template. They are using a Entity Framework model inside VS2010.

I then have a compiled Generator class that is looping through each of the different templates, populating the filename and rendering.

A new version of T4 Toolbox is in the works. It is being designed to handle scenarios of this scale. Unfortunately, it will be some time before it is available. Please contact me privately if you need to resolve it sooner.
