Is there an alternative to T4Toolbox?

Sep 24, 2012 at 1:48 PM

Since the T4Toolbox team seems to sunset this project, does anyone know of a decent alternative? T4Toolbox does not work with Visual Studio 2012 without hacking and I don't want to introduce a hacked 3rd party component to a team of 30+ developers. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hi Jason,

Have you guys found an alternative yet. We are using Studio 2012, and the rather bad patched version that sort of works if you run the REG file periodically. We also need an alternative. The only functionality we really use is the multiple file support, and being able to add files to other projects in the solution.

Have you had any luck.

Dear Jason --

What is the status of your search?

Please advise.

Hey Jason,

Any luck locating an alternative?  We are literally in the same Titanium-hulled boat.  Re-regging the patched version is getting old.

Hi All -

We have unfortunately not been able to find an alternative and have been forced to rewrite our own version of the toolbox (probably a better plan anyway, relying on 3rd parties is typically not a good idea as evidenced by this project). If our management is willing to release the source after it is complete, I'll post a message here on where/how to get it.

In the meantime, we are maintaining our EF project in VS2010 while converting the rest of our code to VS2012/.NET4.5. It's not the most elegant solution but seems to be working for the moment.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help,
